call to action

July 20, 2024

IADC welcomes efforts of members of Congress that supports the plight of people of Iran for freedom and self determination. A new house resolution H.Res.1148 has been introduced by Rep. Randy Weber (R-TX-14) on April 15, 2024 with an extensive list of 222 sponsors from both parties.   The resolution rightfully condemns the Islamic regime’s terrorism, support of regional proxy war, and internal suppression.  While it lists some factual and historical events in the extensive list of whereas statements, it makes reference to a large support for Ten-Point Plan for the Future of Iran of Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, the need for protection of  900+ individuals in Camp Ashraf 3 in Albania, and calls for holding the Iranian regime accountable for its actions through the continued imposition of sanctions and to support the Iranian Resistance’s Ten-Point Plan for the Future of Iran.

We ask all members who are already listed as sponsors to strike out these whereas statements and statement of resolve or rescind your support because:

  1. Khamenei & Rajavi are two sides of the same coin, both extremist militant leaders
  2. POI/MEK/NCRI/OIAC do not represent the Iranian people inside or outside of Iran,
  3. According to the 2023 poll of Iranian Americans, any and all organizations associated with Rajavi have almost no support among the community.
  4. Former President of IRI. Ebrahim Raisi, is now deceased

It appears that a small group of lobbyist have worked on a coordinated effort to get validation for Rajavi and her Ten-Point Plan.  In 2023, a resolution with very similar language was introduced, H.Res.100 by Rep. Tom McClintock, (R-CA-5) that gathered a super majority number of sponsors but faced a strong backlash from the Iranian American community and media, hence it was never brought to the floor for a vote.  This H.Res.1148 appears to be another attempt by this fringe group to seek validation as a viable alternative to the Islamic regime occupying Iran, which is not aligned with the wish of Iranian people.

Many of the sponsors are the same representatives that had supported H.Res.100 however there are many who have not sponsored this new version and several new sponsors from both parties (See below for a select list from 5 states with highest number of sponsors).

We urge members of the community to contact their representatives and share their personal stands regarding Maryam Rajavi and any organization linked to her and echo the voice of Iranian people.

The future of Iran will be determined by the People inside Iran whose resistance and determination has had global attention and admiration.
