On August 22, 2026 we marked five years since a small group of Iranian Americans first came together on a Zoom call — no budget, no staff, just a link passed hand to hand and a shared hunch that it was time for our community to organize. Today, IADC is the first officially chartered Iranian American organization within the California Democratic Party.

IADC’s Vice President, Alex Mohajer delivered the reflection speech at the event. CLICK HERE TO WATCH.

70 members, friends and allies joined us in Newport Beach, California to celebrate, including OC Supervisor Katrina Foley, endorsed candidates for Assembly, State Senate, and city councils and a Supreme Court Judge position across LA and OC, along with representatives from SEIU, the Coalition of Orange County Community Health Centers, and Voter Choice Irvine. Together we were amazed by hearing about the life stories of candidates and what inspired each of them to run for office. We also dug into four of 14 California propositions on the November ballot and a key measure in the City of Irvine and attendees left with IADC’s complete voter guides — because showing up starts with being informed.

It was an engaging, inspiring and informative event. We are thankful to all the sponsors and attendees for their support.

From city councils going on record for a free Iran, to congressional briefings in D.C., to commissioning the first-ever scientific poll of Iranian American voters in California — five years in, we’ve proven representation isn’t a courtesy. It’s power.

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate with us — here’s to the next five.
