IADC Fellowship Program

Iranian American Democrats of California (IADC) is an organization dedicated to engaging, educating and empowering our community. We endorse legislation and Iranian American Democrats and allies running for office that reflect our values.

The Iranian American Democrats of California’s Fellowship Program provides the opportunity for involvement across the State of California in line with IADC’s mission. The fellows power daily operations at the IADC. Each fellow contributes at least 6 hours of work during the school year and at least 10 hours of work on a monthly basis during the summer. Fellows have the opportunity to undergo leadership training, develop skills of interest in a political space, and learn how to mobilize their own communities to elect Democrats up and down the ballot.

A fellow is expected to dedicate at least 6 hours per month during the school year or at least 10 hours per month in the summer at IADC.  Program changes may occur depending on the priorities set by the Steering Committee after each election cycle. Such changes will be timely communicated to the fellow(s) in writing.

A Fellow must commit to attend the monthly Fellows Meeting every third Wednesday in the month at 7 PST. These meetings are where priorities for the month are discussed and training is provided. The camaraderie as well as working together happens during our Fellows meeting. IADC does understand that at times, our Fellows may not be able to attend the scheduled time. School obligations and your health will always have the highest priority.  We are very understanding of your school schedules and will be flexible in this requirement when necessary.

Additional Information

Our work is conducted virtually, so students from across the state are welcome to apply! If you are located locally where we have races we can provide in person mobilization opportunities as well.

Fellows are expected to log their volunteer hours for IADC on the reporting form in order to monitor your work and report the credit hours to the Fellow’s school.

Fellows will be entrusted with IADC’s databases often including sensitive information, and we expect Fellows to be careful with this responsibility and to never use this information for work outside of IADC. Work allocated to the fellows and their conduct must be in line with IADC’s bylaws and values.

IADC hopes that Fellows will develop command over these tasks and are able to assist other volunteers as needed. The fellowship will be perpetual unless a written 10 days notice is given by the Fellow or IADC.
