Becoming an Assembly District Delegate is a fantastic opportunity for someone to step up their political activism, and help us shape California’s future. In this role, delegates will have the opportunity to:
- Take on greater responsibility as a voice for their local district when establishing the official California Democratic State Platform (in even-numbered years),
- Increase their political impact by voting for the endorsements of the California Democratic Party for partisan legislative and statewide office in California,
- Vote for positions we take on the Ballot Propositions,
- Build a community with passionate and diverse California Democrats, and
- Elect 16-25 CADEM Regional Directors who function as your liaison between the California Democratic Party, County Central Committees, and Democratic Party Clubs
Every odd year, activists within a community sign up to be a delegate. Democrats in each assembly district are encouraged to request their electronic ballot and elect among these candidates, up to 14 delegates that will serve as their delegate to the California Democratic State Party (CADEM) for two years. Top vote getters, 7 who self identify as woman and 7 who self identify as other than woman, will be elected. The candidate that chose to be considered for the Executive Committee and earns the highest number of votes, will also serve on the EBoard of CADEM.
Democrats, please register to vote for ADEM in your assembly district. Deadline to register for vote by mail is January 31st. Register TODAY. https://ademelections.com/ register/mail
While the annual California Democratic Party State Convention is a significant responsibility for every delegate, the Convention is only the beginning! Assembly District Delegates will also be local advocates, organizers, and help raise funds. Their leadership will bridge local activism and our statewide efforts to Contest Every Race up and down the ballot!
We are so happy to see 19 Iranian Americans and allies that are members of IADC running for ADEM in various districts and they need your support. Please register to get your ballot via email today.
