Statement on Unauthorized U.S. Military Action Against Iran
We strongly condemn the unauthorized and unprovoked U.S. military attack on Iran. This reckless act, carried out by Donald Trump without Congressional approval and in direct defiance of international calls for diplomacy, is a flagrant violation of the U.S. Constitution and a dangerous escalation toward another catastrophic war in the Middle East.
Once again, the United States is being dragged into a war of choice at the urging of a foreign war criminal and a president desperate to stage chaos for political gain. This lawless aggression threatens American lives, drains military resources, destabilizes Iran and its people, and risks igniting a full-scale regional war. The consequences will be paid by civilians—on both sides of the world.
We are deeply alarmed by the risk of escalation into regional warfare, mass civilian casualties, economic collapse, and environmental catastrophe. We’ve seen this story before: Iraq in 2003, Afghanistan in 2001. The same manufactured consent, the same false urgency, the same trail of destruction. The world cannot afford another war built on lies, ego, and opportunism.
The power to declare war lies with Congress—not the president. We call on Congress to immediately assert its authority, prevent further violence, uphold international law, and commit to diplomacy—not destruction. Their silence is complicity. Their failure to act is an abandonment of democratic responsibility.
Our hearts are with the people of Iran, who are caught between the oppressive Islamic Republic regime at home and a violent foreign assault from abroad. We stand with all civilians in the region—against tyranny, against war, and in pursuit of peace and diplomacy.
